The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first check-up by age seven, which surprises most parents. It does not mean braces at seven.
At that age the back bite is established and the first adult molars are usually in, so we can see how the jaw is developing and whether there will be room for the teeth still coming. Most children we see at seven are simply monitored until the timing is right.
Catching a crossbite, severe crowding or a jaw-growth issue early can mean shorter and simpler treatment later, and occasionally avoids extractions altogether.
We participate with most PPO plans and will verify exactly what your benefit covers before treatment begins, so nothing arrives as a surprise afterwards.
We do not participate with HMO plans. If you have an HMO, or no orthodontic coverage at all, you are in good company — roughly half of our families pay directly.
Cost depends on how much movement a case requires and how long treatment runs, so a single number posted online would not be honest. What we can promise is that you will have a clear figure in writing at your consultation, before you commit to anything.
Predictable arrangements matter as much as the number itself. We will explain what your benefit covers, what remains, and how it is structured across treatment.
Both work. The right answer depends on the bite and on your teen, not on the marketing.
Braces are fixed, so nothing depends on your teen remembering anything. Invisalign Teen is far less visible, which matters enormously at that age, but it only works if the trays are genuinely worn — the wear indicators tell us honestly how it is going.
Dr. Battisti will tell you plainly which one suits your child, including when aligners are not the right tool. The best plan is the one your teen can actually follow.
